Camp Oliver has been a favorite site year after year since 1949. Camp Oliver is located just minutes east of San Diego, and provides one of the very best summer camps and rental facilities in the beautiful Cleveland National Forest. We are easy to get to, just north of Interstate 8, but far enough away from the city to enjoy some needed peace and quiet. Popular Summer Camp for Youth As one of the oldest summer camps in San Diego County, Camp Oliver has been a part of family generations throughout our community. Each child becomes part of the Camp Oliver family as they make lasting friendships and develop a wealth of new skills and interests. It is truly an unforgettable experience for all. Learning to share and making independent decisions are part of a child’s growth and development at one of San Diego’s best summer camps — Camp Oliver. Over the years, many campers have returned as staff members, board members, and even donors! Summer Belongs to the Kids We offer summer camp sessions that last one-week, every week having its own special theme. All camper sessions are co-ed for children ages 6-12 years old. We also offer a special Teen Camp session for co-ed teens ages 13-15 years old. Our time-tested program has activitites for everyone and every age!
San Diego Rental Facility for Retreats, Conferences and Workshops With a beautiful and peaceful atmosphere, Camp Oliver is an ideal place in San Diego for business staff retreats, training, team building, school outings and even nature studies. You'll enjoy our rustic, natural setting with our own Mount Oliver hiking trail and other trails nearby. Celebrating more than 60 years of happy campers, Camp Oliver is conveniently placed east of San Diego, near the Cuyamaca State Parks and Cleveland National Forest. These National Parks contain local treasures such as Paso Picacho, Green Valley Falls and Stone Wall Peak. Accommodations Camp Oliver offers lodging facilities, bathrooms with showers, a large dining hall and a professional kitchen for your use. With space for up to 105 guests, we have got you covered! Our 6 cabins, each holding a capacity of 16 people, will accommodate your group in comfort. Surrounded by peace and nature, you can take time to bare your spiritual center. Our indoor meeting lodge included with your rental embraces a safe indoor firecircle, which provides a great place to bring your marshmallows, graham crackers and chocolate bars! Your group will be insisting for S’more! Rental Pricing and Availability Camp Oliver can house up to 105 people. Weekend and mid-week rentals have a 40 person minimum. Camp Oliver's History Camp Oliver has been a favorite site for children since 1949, when Lawrence and Mary Oliver donated part of their vast ranch in Descanso, along the Sweetwater River, to the Sisters of Social Service, who developed a children’s summer camp and retreat grounds. In 1990, Camp was incorporated as a non-profit, 501(c)(3) organization. Children enjoy the love, warmth, laughter, friendships and memories that remain throughout the years. Camp Oliver has a beautiful setting enhanced by mature California live oaks, manzanitas, wild lilac bushes and natural hiking trails, originally a Kumeyaay Indian seasonal site. We have six cabins, each sleeping 15 people, a lodge perfect for a meeting place, a swimming pool, indoor and outdoor fire rings, a fully operational kitchen, dining hall, basketball court, sports field and so much more. These facilities are made possible and improved with donations from individuals, families, businesses and organizations. Camp Oliver is in Descanso Camp Oliver is located in the East County of San Diego, in Descanso, CA. This calm and quiet town is just 40 minutes from Downtown San Diego.
Directions: Head east on I-8 (past Alpine) to Highway 79 (Julian/Japatul Valley exit). Turn left (north) under the overpass and continue for one mile. Turn left onto Riverside Drive.
