With a beautiful, peaceful atmosphere, Camp Oliver is an ideal place for retreats, staff training, school outings, and nature studies. Come enjoy our rustic, natural setting - hike our trail or others nearby. The camp is conveniently situated near Cuyamaca and Cleveland State Parks. These National Parks contain local treasures such as Paso Picacho, Green Valley Falls and Stone Wall Peak.

Where is Descanso? Just 40 minutes from Downtown San Diego, head east past Alpine on I-8 to Highway 79 (Julian/Japatul exit). Turn left (north) under the overpass and continue for a mile. Turn left onto Riverside Drive. Enter into Camp Oliver at the third driveway on the right side of the road (8761 Riverside Drive). Click here to see a map.

Camp Oliver offers lodging facilities, bathrooms, showers, lodge, dining hall, and a kitchen for your group’s use. With six cabins, each with a capacity of 15 people, your group can stay in rustic comfort. Surrounded by peace and nature, you can take time to locate your spiritual center. Two indoor meeting rooms are at your disposal, one of which sports an indoor fireplace. So bring your marshmallows, graham crackers and chocolate bars, and you’ll have ‘em crying for S’mores!
